For Macintosh Tiger 10.4.x and Leopard OS X 10.5, (not Snow Leopard OS X 10.6) you will not need to download previous versions as Mac keeps all older versions installed:

To revert to a previous version of java you can select from the list of installed versions.  See below for instructions:

  • Open the Java Preferences.app:
    • From the finder, select Applications, then navigate to Utilities

    • From the Utilities Window, double-click Java Preferences
    •     Screenshot for Java Reversion
    • Drag the previous version of Java you want to use to the top of the list.
